No way to see stats on each factions power wealth military or their diplomatic standings means it's pretty much total guess-work who to attack who to ally with who to avoid = boring. In AoW3 I really built specialized cities, and rarely could put all buildings in all cities even if I wanted to. Often I just build everything available as it becomes possible. AI seems to have no problem attacking empty cities and all outposts, so after it took over one of my empty cities, I tried an experiment: I reloaded an older save, put ONE level 1 army in every city (with NO mods in them), and the AI never attacked those cities like they had before.Ĭity building is a bit tedious, and there seems to be little consequences to what you build in cities that I can see. We don't play MP, even though we'd love to, because THAT is so boring.ĭiplomacy is currently both chaotic and useless = boring.ĪIs never seem to attack your cities (unless their empty) = really boring. If I could save just a dozen mod configurations, that would save me so much time and tedium. Mods seemed great at first, but it's now a total pita to remember, and re-insert them every new mod you research and all of them every single game. I "can" put my finger on some of the things. And bonus: If you see opportunity for improvement, let the Devs know on the forums. So, it may take awhile, but I have little doubt this game will shine furiously in the future if it's only dimly lit for you now. Over time, no doubt they will fix the bugs, improve the game on player feedback and probably improve the UI as well as the AI :)
There are many bugs, some game breaking and lots of AI and balance issues. Finally, keep in mind AOW Planetfall is hot off of the presses. It was good originally but was GREAT after they added necromancy and the tropical folks and some other things. TBQH, I was way more into AOWIII only after all their expansions anyway. I also am as positive as I could theoretically be that Triumph / Paradox will release more and more *excellent* content as DLCs.
I never played the campaign in AOWIII, but here it does work for some reason. I'm really enjoying this game but the Sector mgmt and covert ops is taking me awhile to wrap my head around, slowly I am getting there.
